My areas of research interests include Caste and Literary representation, Literature and Cities, Translation Studies, Postcolonial Anglophone novel and Environmental Humanities.
My doctoral work entitled "Prosaic Lives: The Poetics of Nonfiction in Urban India" focussed on the representation of Indian megacities in select nonfictional narratives to analyze how nonfictional reportage interrogates the urbanization process in India. I attempted to challenge the textual analysis of cities in literature to analyze the multiple temporalities of global south cities.
My M.Phil. dissertation entitled "Serious Men and The Gypsy Goddess: How Newness Enters the Dalit Discourse?" addressed the issue of caste representation in Indian English Fiction by studying representation of Dalits in two contemporary novels, namely Manu Joseph's Serious Men (2010) and Meena Kandasamy's The Gypsy Goddess (2014). Since both the novels departed from the conventional mode of "liberal-reformist" ideology in Dalit representation, my dissertation aimed to create a dialogue between the politics of representation and self-representation.
I am currently working on two book-chapters: In one article, I analyze the experimental ways in which nonhuman agency is narrated in fiction. In another article, I critically analyze environmental precarity and the politics of lifestyle-based solutions that are offered to combat it.
